Description
A quick one-off celebration (13 photo composite) of some tiny backyard friends (Archilochus Colubris). Soon, these Ruby-Throated visitors will be migrating South as cooler temps chase them away until mid-April when they return to breed. Sadly, I don't have any (decent) mature male Ruby-Throated hummers pictured here. Apparently, he's camera/people shy. Technical garb: Flight Speed = 30-63 mph. Life span = 3 - 9 years. Wing beats: 40-80 per second. Heart rate: 250/resting, 1200 beats/flying.
