Artist's Description

It was a bitter cold morning with snow on the ground. I came upon a herd of elk when suddenly they bolted. I ran in the direction from which they came and began scanning the landscape searching for movement. I detected something through the tree line.

I raised my lens to get a closer look and there he was, a magnificent coyote. He stood on the edge of a ridge looking at the elk. I quickly changed positions to try and get a clearer photograph. I was lucky enough to get this one before he ran off.

Photograph of a coyote stopping for a moment to look at the camera while hunting elk.

About Andrea Silies

Andrea Silies

Although I enjoy night photography, my true love is hiking in the woods and being around wildlife. I feel blessed living near a wildlife management area. It gives me an opportunity to get close up shots of the animals. Here are some of my favorites. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did taking them.
